Meet Kyle Mortenson, MPH NBCT

Kyle Suzan Mortenson-NBCT

You Heard It In Health Class Founder

Specializing in exceptional health, relationship and family life education.

Have you ever been faced with an uncomfortable conversation you did not know how to tackle with your students or young children? Or felt frozen in place when reflecting on how to guide the tweens or teens in your life through the perils of becoming an adult in the age of social media?

A song comes to mind for me when I think of these struggles, as famously performed by a group of flustered nuns in the “Sound of Music:”

🎵 How do you solve a problem like Maria?

How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?” 🎵

Well, let me tell you – I can solve your problem and help you catch that cloud 🙂

Hi, I am Kyle Suzan Mortenson, a National Board Certified Health Teacher who has been teaching grades 5-12 for 15 years in the greater D.C. area, most recently as Arlington County’s Health & Physical Education Lead for High School. I have a Masters in Health Education and Promotion; hold complimentary certifications in Dance and Recreation, Holistic Health, Personal Training; and take an evidence-based approach to social and emotional learning.

In addition, I am a former Division-II volleyball player, coached varsity athletics for over 10 years, am an amateur swing dancer and semi-professional beach volleyball competitor, et cetera, et cetera, yadda yadda, blah blah blah…

Beyond my credentials, years of experience, and areas of (professional and hobby-based) expertise – what I really have is a knack for connection

Teens, parents, teachers, and coaches: I see you, and I am here for you. I am able to deliver meaningful workshops, lessons, professional development opportunities in a unique way to allow for honest, interesting, and fun lessons for some of the most difficult topics to navigate.

“Oh, how do you solve a problem like Maria? How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand?”

Call Mrs. Mortenson, and you just might find out.
(NOTE: the “moonbeam in your hand” topic will certainly be covered)
